Celtic have had a marvellous season, everything they have touched domestically has turned to gold. Only two games this season they have failed to be the victors at the end of the 90 minutes. Inverness and Rangers managed to get 1-1 draws but even when you look at those games individually then Celtic could have easily won those games as well.
After the draw at the weekend they now find themselves two victories away from another title, its been only a matter of time for so long now that no one really cares about the title race anymore, the title was won when Celtic beat Rangers 5-1 in September. So since then its just been full steam ahead for Rodgers and his side and all credit has to go to them.
What they have achieved is far from easy they have come up against some stubborn teams since the season kicked off in August but time and time again they have managed to adapt to the different scenarios put in front of them and get the result in the bag. Motherwell away, Rangers away, Hearts away, Alloa Home, St Mirren Home and St Johnstone away to name a few that come to mind and they will be Champions through their own quality and its nothing more than they deserve.
What will be interesting though is if Rodgers can write his name into the
Celtic history books and become only the third manager in the clubs history to win the holy grail ” The Treble”. Jock Stein and Martin O’Neil currently sit upon a perch that looks down upon all other Celtic manager who came before and after them and Rodgers will desperately want to claim his spot on that perch.
So now only are they two games from the title but two games from that so sought after treble.
Celtic find themselves in the Scottish Cup semi finals against their main rivals Rangers, Celtic have been in this position before in the last few seasons losing out to Inverness and Rangers so they will be hoping it will be third time lucky when it comes to recent Scottish Cup Semi Final appearances.
The last two occasions they where knocked out by a horrendous referee decision when Josh Meekings pulled off one of the best saves Hampden has ever seen and it went unpunished with Celtic already 1-0 up at that point and then last season they went out after penalties which is bad luck more than anything else.
There have been many highlights over the season for Celtic fans, drawing twice with Man City in the Champions League, scalping Rangers 5-1 in the opening Old Firm game, beating Motherwell in the last kick of the game, winning the league cup so many to name but the treble will be their favourite of them all if they do indeed pull this off.
Will they do it? my guess is yes but we will just have to wait and see …
What is for certain though is that next season this guy won’t be here so Celtic fans should appreciate every minute of this chap before he hits one of Europes top clubs in the summer.
